ACE Pita Bites Packaging Pitch

The design pitch and final creative for new ACE Pita bites packaging process.

ACE Bakery — Sourdough Pita Bites Packaging Design Opening slide introducing a packaging design exploration for ACE Bakery's proposed Sourdough Pita Bites product range. The composition features a close-up, three-dimensional rendering of the final Sea Salt packaging concept, using a muted blue colour palette with subtle illustrated bakery-inspired textures. The established ACE Bakery logo appears prominently in black and white, featuring its signature illustrated bakers and traditional typography. Large white lettering reading "Sourdough Pita Bites" dominates the front panel, with a contrasting white label identifying the Sea Salt flavour. Close-up food photography shows golden, toasted pita crackers alongside colourful ingredients, reinforcing appetite appeal. The words "Design Pitch" appear vertically along the right edge of the composition, establishing the project as a packaging development presentation.
Current Packaging — Evaluating the Sensible Portions Artwork An examination of the existing Sensible Portions Pita Bites packaging artwork and its suitability for adaptation into the ACE Bakery brand system. The slide features three technical packaging layouts, including dielines, dimensions, colour specifications and unfolded carton artwork. The existing design relies on a predominantly white background, black typography, green brand elements and conventional three-quarter-angle product photography. The assessment identifies several limitations, including dated food photography, insufficient visual impact and the need to integrate ACE's established brand identity. The source artwork was supplied as non-working PDF files, creating additional production considerations. The analysis concludes that the packaging would benefit from refreshed photography, stronger branding and a more distinctive visual approach suitable for the high-visibility demands of Costco.
Concept 1 — Preserving the ACE Bakery Identity The first packaging concept explores a conservative approach that closely follows the existing ACE Bakery visual identity. Three carton designs are presented for Original Sea Salt, Garlic & Chive and Sourdough. Each package features the recognizable black-and-white ACE Bakery logo and illustrated bakers, positioned within a large white central panel. A decorative illustrated band runs across the top of the packaging, with different blue and grey tones distinguishing the varieties. The design retains the existing Sensible Portions food photography, showing golden pita crackers with toppings and accompanying ingredients. A small coloured label identifies each flavour, while restrained typography and extensive white space maintain consistency with ACE's existing portfolio. Although the concept preserves brand recognition, the presentation identifies limitations in its reliance on dated photography and relatively subdued shelf presence.
Concept 2 — Increasing Visibility Through Colour and Composition The second concept introduces a bolder packaging architecture designed to improve visibility within Costco's warehouse retail environment. The ACE Bakery logo remains positioned within a vertical white panel on the left side of each carton, maintaining a recognizable connection to the brand's established identity. Large areas of saturated colour distinguish the three varieties: teal for Original Sea Salt, green for Garlic & Chive, and blue for Sourdough. The design replaces the existing three-quarter-angle photography with overhead product imagery, showcasing individual golden pita crackers alongside crackers topped with creamy dips. The product photographs are arranged vertically across the coloured packaging panels, creating a strong visual rhythm and increasing appetite appeal. Large white typography identifies the product as Pita Bites, while smaller white labels communicate the individual flavours. The concept demonstrates how stronger colour differentiation and contemporary food photography can create a more distinctive shelf presence without abandoning established ACE branding.
Concept 3 — Creating a Stronger Product Presence The third packaging direction evolves the previous concept by repositioning the ACE Bakery logo into the centre of the carton. Rather than maintaining a separate vertical branding panel, the design integrates the logo directly into the coloured background. Large overhead photographs of pita crackers and dips surround the central branding, extending toward the edges of the package to create a product billboarding effect. The words "Pita Bites" appear in large white typography beneath the ACE logo, establishing a stronger visual hierarchy and making the product name more prominent. The three varieties retain their distinct colour systems: teal for Sea Salt, green for Garlic & Chive, and deep blue for Sourdough. This direction places greater emphasis on the product itself, using oversized photography, simplified typography and saturated colour to improve visibility across multiple retail display orientations.
Concept 4 — Combining Brand Recognition with Appetite Appeal The fourth packaging concept combines the strongest elements of the previous directions into a more balanced visual system. Each carton is divided into two distinct sections. The upper portion features a large block of saturated colour, the ACE Bakery logo and prominent white "Pita Bites" typography. The lower portion uses a clean white background to showcase large overhead photographs of golden pita crackers, including a cracker topped with a creamy herb dip. Subtle illustrated bakery textures appear within the coloured upper section, maintaining continuity with ACE's established visual language. Teal identifies Original Sea Salt, green represents Garlic & Chive, and dark blue distinguishes Sourdough. The concept balances strong brand consistency, clear SKU differentiation and contemporary appetite appeal, creating a packaging system intended to perform effectively in Costco's high-volume retail environment.
The Range — Evaluating Four Creative Directions A side-by-side comparison of the four ACE Pita Bites packaging concepts developed during the exploration. Each direction is represented by its Sea Salt variety, allowing direct comparison of branding, colour, typography, photography and overall shelf impact. The concepts demonstrate a progression from a conservative brand-led design to increasingly product-focused and visually assertive packaging systems. Concept 1 emphasizes ACE's traditional visual identity and existing food photography. Concept 2 introduces stronger colour blocking and overhead product imagery while retaining the vertical ACE branding panel. Concept 3 places the ACE logo centrally, surrounded by oversized food photography. Concept 4 combines a strong coloured branding area with a clean, product-focused lower section. The slide demonstrates the exploration of different visual hierarchies and their potential effectiveness in a competitive warehouse retail setting.
Recommendation — Concept 4 Following the exploration, Concept 4 was identified as the recommended direction for the ACE Pita Bites packaging. The slide presents all four concepts side by side, with the first three designs faded to emphasize the selected fourth concept. The recommendation highlights Concept 4's ability to preserve the established ACE Bakery identity while responding to the high visual demands of Costco's retail environment. The selected direction features bold SKU colour blocking, a prominent ACE logo, oversized product typography and large overhead food photography. The combination creates a clear and recognizable packaging system that balances brand consistency with strong product visibility and appetite appeal.
Pallet Layouts — Evaluating Packaging at Retail Scale An exploration of how the proposed packaging concepts would appear when displayed in large quantities on Costco-style retail pallets. The slide features three three-dimensional pallet renderings representing Concepts 2, 3 and 4. Each rendering shows multiple ACE Pita Bites cartons stacked in tightly arranged rows on a wooden shipping pallet. The repeated packaging designs create different visual effects when viewed as a complete retail display. Concept 2 emphasizes consistent vertical branding and strong colour blocking. Concept 3 creates a densely layered composition through repeated product photography and centrally positioned logos. Concept 4 produces a more structured display, with alternating bands of coloured branding and white product photography. The exercise demonstrates how packaging decisions influence visual impact beyond the individual carton, particularly in warehouse retail environments where products are frequently displayed in bulk.
Final Flat Artwork — Translating the Concept into Production Design A presentation of the final production artwork developed for ACE Sourdough Pita Bites. The final design combines elements of Concepts 2 and 4, emphasizing full-colour packaging panels and strong product visibility. The slide features a complete unfolded carton layout for the Garlic & Chive variety, showing the front, back, side, top and bottom panels. A vibrant green colour palette dominates the design, supported by subtle illustrated bakery textures and the established black-and-white ACE Bakery logo. Large white "Sourdough Pita Bites" typography establishes a clear product hierarchy, while new overhead food photography showcases golden pita crackers and herb-topped serving suggestions. The photography extends across adjacent carton panels, allowing the product imagery to connect visually when multiple boxes are displayed together. The artwork also incorporates bilingual English and French product information, nutritional details, ingredients, barcode placement and required packaging information. The final execution demonstrates the translation of an approved creative direction into a comprehensive packaging layout designed for commercial production.
Final 3D Renderings — ACE Sourdough Pita Bites The final packaging designs are presented as realistic three-dimensional carton renderings. Two varieties are showcased: Garlic & Chive and Sea Salt. The Garlic & Chive carton uses a vibrant green colour palette, while Sea Salt is distinguished by a muted blue background. Both packages feature the recognizable ACE Bakery logo, large white "Sourdough Pita Bites" typography and contrasting flavour labels. Subtle illustrated textures appear throughout the coloured backgrounds, adding visual depth while maintaining consistency with the ACE brand identity. Large overhead food photographs show golden, toasted pita crackers alongside serving suggestions, creating appetite appeal across the front and side panels. The renderings demonstrate the final packaging system's consistency, SKU differentiation and ability to communicate the ACE Bakery brand across multiple product varieties.
